Monterey day usually consists of the aquarium and Cannery Row or the wharf and a beach like Lover’s Point, but we decided to mix it up a bit.
Between October and February Monarch butterflies migrate to Pacific Grove. And how do you not like butterflies?
It’s free to go to, and a sight to see. The images do not do it justice.
In hind sight, I should have brought my other lenses to get better, close-up images. The black dots in the sky and orange things in the tree are the Monarchs. If you look closely, you will see what I am talking about.
Pacific Grove is a cute little area with a bunch of shops and restaurants where you can walk around for lunch after, or you can be like us and take a trip to Cannery Row. What is a trip to Monterey with out some clam chowder? …. or dip n dots!
Afterwards we went to Asilomar State Beach.
Warning: if you go during high tide you won’t actually be able to go on the beach. But it is always enticing to see the roaring waves crashing in.
Besides, who doesn’t love a sunset?
Warning: If you want pictures of your outfit, make sure you are not surrounded by beautiful butterflies, your boyfriend turned photographer, may be distracted; but can you blame him? 😉
You never know what kind of weather you are going to get when going to Monterey. That’s why I decided to wear some jeans with rolled up cuffs and on top, a simple black crop top and a light coverup with cute fall colors. Plus I brought a jacket with me just incase, you never know how strong that ocean breeze can be! Always best to play it safe.
But overall, it was a day well spent. How can you ever go wrong on a trip to Monterey?
